Greetings all!

The following question was put to me yesterday:

" I am thinking that I remember this correctly, but before I go
much further, I thought I would check with a knowledgeable person.
Heraldic Banners in Period, specifically, 14th C England and France,
would have been the style that is straight across the top and straight
down the sides coming to a point at the bottom, like a rectangle with
curvy bits cut from the bottom corners, right? I also think I remember
that painted linen was more usual than applique? And the paint was
tempera--egg tempera or was it oil?

Darn if I can find my original research and the web is not being
cooperative!

Do you have any links saved? I lost a lot when our last computer died
and I am just not finding stuff online today.

Thank you for any help you can offer,

Typhaine"

While I can help her with the shape aspects, actual materials and
construction methods is not something I'm familiar with in this period.

Please can anyone point me toward some information?
Thank you for your kind assistance!

Rose Marian
